The Center released the initial findings from our study on women's attitudes and experiences with financial planning for retirement in a presentation and report, Financial Challenges for Mature Women: Creating Financial Plans and Evaluating Financial Planners on May 20th in Washington, DC. at the National Press Club. There was an excellent turnout for the day-long conference, and our panelists provided the audience with important information on how midlife and older women can successfully engage in the financial planning process -- including tips on finding an advisor one can trust. Our keynote speaker and panelists spoke about the need to better reach out to, inform, and serve women from all walks of life.
This is the start of an important dialogue on midlife and older women and their challenges achieving and maintaining financial security. In all discussions around Social Security reform, financial industry services and regulations, employment and pensions, etc., the voices of midlife and older women must be heard and recognized.
